City events staff detailed multiple maintenance and capital improvements planned for the McNeese Convention Center at 501 Rio Concho Drive.
Events manager (S2) said the convention center’s digital marquee has been out for several months and the city plans a full LED replacement rather than piecemeal repairs. "So the replacement of that is $49,801.50," S2 said, adding the cost was funded through the civic events fund balance and the replacement was expected in the first two weeks of August.
S2 also described HVAC Phase 2 work to replace units in the main office, restrooms and concession areas, listing a Phase 2 cost of "$115,850." He said staff expects AC to be restored within about two weeks. Roof-leak repairs are under review with Harrison Roofing and warranty provider Duralast; staff is awaiting the contractor’s report to determine covered repairs.
Kitchen equipment—freezer, ice machine and other appliances—are failing and staff is seeking quotes. S2 said those replacements will likely be funded from Fund 410 or the FY27 budget and staff will return with bids at the next board meeting.
