Staff recommends earlier 2027 pool-pass sales and an early-bird discount window

Staff (staff liaison) told the commission she compiled comparative pricing and timing data from nearby park districts and proposed moving pool-pass sales earlier in the year to increase early revenue and planning certainty.

Her recommendation included an early-bird discount window (proposed Feb. 1–Apr. 30), regular rates May 1–June 30, and a late-season price structure beginning July 1. The staff liaison also proposed offering multi-use passes and discussed whether early-bird rates should be available to nonresidents; commissioners present favored restricting early-bird discounts to residents.

"I wanna start selling pool passes before May 1," the staff liaison said, explaining that including the pool passes in the winter–spring brochure (published in November) would let the commission begin sales in February or March. Commissioners noted swim-team registration typically begins in January and suggested aligning dates to increase uptake. The commission asked staff to bring final dates and a rate package to the next meeting so the commission can vote on a recommendation to forward to the board.

Staff provided sales figures for late-season passes this year (20 sold after July 10 in one category) and described multi-use pass performance across prior years. No rate changes were approved at this meeting; commissioners will consider a formal recommendation at the next meeting once staff returns with finalized dates and rates.
