Fire department recruiting, rising library use and public-works updates reported to board

Several departments reported updates to the Readstown Village Board during the Aug. 18 meeting.

Fire Department representative Charlie Strait said things are going well and noted that "The dept. is always looking for new members." Monica Matos reported that library transaction numbers are rising, mentioned a Winding Rivers kids grant and said the library is discussing a possible greenhouse. Public Works reported that lead/copper inventory work is progressing, that cold-mix paving prices have increased significantly from last year, and that the horse arena project is nearly complete.

In the clerk’s report, Chelsey Hoffman provided picnic-planning details, an update on village financials with accountants, and said the village’s LWM Safety Grant annual allotment is capped at $600. The minutes do not include budget detail or grant award amounts beyond the stated $600 cap for the safety grant.
