Board approves 2026 meeting calendar after debate over adding regular work sessions

Commissioners approved the 2026 board and standing-committee meeting times as proposed by staff after extended debate over whether to add more regular board meetings or scheduled work sessions. One commissioner proposed adding a monthly board meeting February through October; that idea drew support from some members seeking more "bandwidth" to tackle priorities but opposition from others who preferred advance notice or occasional special meetings. An amended proposal to add four quarterly work sessions likewise failed on roll call.

After considering amendments and alternatives, the board adopted the staff-proposed calendar, with staff explaining schedule adjustments intended to avoid conflicts with conferences and holidays and an August contingency date in case a parks millage required reconsideration.
