Weyauwega council approves $423,230 lead service replacement contract, offers 3-year repayment plan

The Weyauwega Common Council on June 16 approved Contract W0086-09-2500115 to Scott Lamers Construction in the amount of $423,230 for the Lead Service Replacement project. The motion, made by Councilmember Shani Appleby and seconded by Councilmember Chris Gunderson, carried with six ayes and zero nays.

At the same meeting the council approved a companion payment plan for affected property owners. The plan, approved on motion by Appleby and seconded by Meta Berg, allows a maximum repayment term of up to three years with no interest charged. The council recorded that both motions passed with six ayes and zero nays. The actions create a procurement contract for construction work and a municipal-financing option intended to reduce up-front costs for homeowners who must replace lead laterals.
