Council approves $500 donation for county fair, rejects small fire-department sponsorship

Council approved a $500 donation to the Waupaca County Fair and granted use of city land for parking; the motion, moved by Chris Gunderson and seconded by Pat Gorchals, carried with six ayes and zero nays. Council also approved checks and monthly financial statements covering 05/01/2025 through 05/31/2025 totaling $227,747.87.

Separately a proposal to approve a $250 sponsorship to the Fire Department failed on a motion by Shani Appleby and seconded by Meta Berg, which resulted in one aye and five nay votes. Councilmember Pat Gorchals noted that neighboring towns had not provided correspondence to indicate they had donated to the Fire Department; he said Royalton and Weyauwega townships had not sent donations and Lind had not replied.
