Fiscal Court gives first reading to ordinance creating Department of Public Safety

Warren County Fiscal Court approved the first reading of Order 26-20, an ordinance to establish a county Department of Public Safety that would organize administration for fire protection and emergency management services.

Esquire Williams moved and Esquire Lawrence seconded the first reading, and the court recorded affirming roll-call votes. Judge Executive Doug Gorman said the order provides a structure for administering fire and emergency management services under county oversight and that the change follows prior service agreements.

The matter was presented as a first reading (no final adoption at this session). Court members congratulated staff on service and noted that the organization will be overseen in coordination with existing public-safety personnel.
