Property appraiser budget rises to $8.8M; increase tied to valuation changes

Claudia Campos presented the Property Appraiser's FY27 proposed budget and said the office's recommended total is approximately $8.8 million, up about $358,200 (4.3%) from the adopted FY26 budget. She explained the increase is driven by changes in countywide valuations and the budget is calculated as a percentage of district levies.

"The proposed budget is currently at 8,800,000 with an increase from the adopted budget of 358,200 or 4.3% of their budget," Campos said. She noted the county's portion is about $8.5 million and support costs are $301,267. Commissioners asked whether the increase funded additional staff; Campos said she was not aware of personnel changes in that office at the time of the presentation.

No vote on the Property Appraiser's budget was taken at the session; the item remains part of the proposed countywide FY27 draft and will appear in the published proposed budget book.
