The Yamhill County Board on July 30 authorized a three-year cooperative purchase agreement for a Zoom phone implementation totaling $644,187, moving the county away from its 11-year Mitel system.
"We're requesting board approval for selecting CopyNet as a reseller for a a Zoom phone solution," said Shane Hoffman, the county IT lead, who told commissioners Mitel is at end-of-sale and replacement hardware is limited. Hoffman said staying with Mitel would require a costly upgrade and that moving to Zoom would let county IT focus on one phone platform while the city of McMinnville would manage its own implementation.
Commissioners asked for clarifying details about contract terms and implementation; one member noted the county's existing support burdens. The board made and passed a motion to approve the cooperative purchase; commissioners signaled unanimous support with oral "ayes." The procurement uses master agreement R250302 and is described in the staff memo presented by Hoffman.
