Officials discuss test scores, attendance and approaches to support struggling students

Dr. DiPonio told the Board that media narratives about student achievement do not always match classroom realities and that many students display apathy toward standardized testing: "Kids often have a general apathy towards doing their best on standardized tests."

He said the district is focusing on attendance, socioeconomic status and state-testing philosophy to better identify students who need additional support and to plan targeted interventions. No new achievement program funding was proposed at this meeting.
