Parks director thanks staff; city manager and commissioners praise summer programs

Ian Forrest, the city’s director of parks, led a portion of the show’s acknowledgments and thanked supervisors and rec staff for their work running summer programs. He told the audience the event was his favorite of the year as he introduced the city manager and commissioners.

City Manager Darvin Williams praised Forrest’s leadership and referenced a parks certification, noting it was “1 of 63 in the state of Florida.” Commissioners then made short remarks and used the stage to promote upcoming civic events and youth services.

The on-stage recognition emphasized continuity between staff who run camps and the elected officials who fund and promote programming; officials urged families to support local events and follow city registration procedures for upcoming activities.
