Board hears update on water-remediation and PFAS projects at district sites

Board members raised questions about water-quality projects at Meadowpond and other sites; district staff (S11) and consultants (S13, S12) summarized progress and technical approaches.

Speakers said the district is mid-project on Meadowpond remediation and expects the substantial work to be completed by the end of summer, followed by a lengthy testing period required by the county health department before potable use is restored. Consultants described that Meadowpond will use ion exchange while the middle school is using granular activated carbon (GAC); both systems were discussed as approved or under review at different project sites. "Ion exchange at Meadowpond and granular activated carbon at the middle school," S13 said when outlining approved approaches, and staff noted county approvals and multi-agency coordination had slowed some earlier efforts but that the district now expects progress to accelerate.

Trustees discussed how these remediation costs are budgeted separately from the LES bond conversation and asked for community updates; staff agreed to provide public status reports on remediation milestones as approvals and testing progress.
