Resident urges transparency on data centers and warns of ‘shocking’ property-appraisal impacts

Julie Tolliver, a Batavia Township resident, used the public comment period to press the Clermont County Board of Commissioners for more transparency around data-center development and to raise alarm about recently released property tax appraisals. “Im actually here to talk about the property tax appraisals, which are coming out and causing a buzz,” Tolliver said, adding that while increases in appraisal values do not automatically raise taxes, the numbers are alarming to residents.

Tolliver said she is not opposed to data centers themselves but objected to secrecy and potential corruption in decision-making, calling for commissioners to “join with us and help us.” She urged county officials to engage residents as details about appraisal impacts become available. During the public participation period the board did not engage in debate or respond to comments, per its stated rules.
