Resident raises safety concerns on Willett's Lane, urges bicyclists to use the separate path

Chris Lentz of River Oaks addressed the council during the call to the public and described recent changes along Willett's Lane, including stop‑sign reflectors and two rainbow‑painted crosswalks. He raised concerns about bicyclists riding in traffic rather than using the adjacent bike and pedestrian path and the resulting conflicts with large delivery trucks and semis.

"The simple solution is to require the bicycle people to use the bike path," Lentz said, describing narrow shoulders, cut‑through cyclist behavior and the difficulty of safely passing cyclists while staying in lane. He urged the council and staff to consider enforcement or design changes to keep bicyclists off the travel lane where shoulders are limited and heavy trucks make passing unsafe.
