Developer and neighborhood group seek county funding for 67 mixed‑income units at 210 Hancock Street

Paul Mazzarella, who identified himself as executive director of a neighborhood organization in Ithaca, urged the legislature to support county housing funds for a redevelopment at 210 Hancock Street.

"It will provide 67 new units of mixed income housing and commercial space," Mazzarella said, adding that the project team had assembled nearly all the financing and that local support would be important in a competitive state funding round. He told members the project was one of only three statewide chosen for a particular state funding round and that local backing would influence state decisions.

Planning committee members subsequently moved a resolution (document ID 6901) to increase disbursement from a housing fund for the 210 Hancock Street project; the resolution proceeded with discussion and a recorded abstention from one legislator who said she must recuse herself on housing matters.
