Tompkins County confirms Lance Salisbury as supervising attorney for assigned‑counsel office

The Tompkins County Legislature unanimously confirmed Lance Salisbury as supervising attorney for the county’s assigned‑counsel office.

County Administrator Joe Mariana outlined the search process and said the Advisory Board on Indigent Representation participated in the selection and recommended Salisbury. After a motion to confirm and a second, the legislature voted unanimously to appoint Salisbury. "I really welcome the opportunity that you've given me," Salisbury said, thanking members and noting the program’s strong reputation in the state.

Mariana noted the selection was complicated by ABIR’s role in recommending and confirming candidates; he described Salisbury’s background, including degrees in regional planning and geography and experience managing legal‑aid programs internationally.
