Harvesting team plans maintenance and summer operations; launch targeted for June

Mike Misterek gave the Weed Management and Harvesting Committee report, saying he attended the Aquarius Systems conference and learned that many programs pay harvesting crews; he praised his volunteers’ commitment. He said harvesters and volunteers will perform maintenance on equipment on May 16 and that he will confirm continued access to the private dumping property used for harvested weeds.

Misterek proposed launching the harvester on June 19 if the Town of Elcho can deliver it; Jeff McKinney will check town availability. If the town cannot provide delivery, Misterek said the district could hire Krueger & Stienfest to move the equipment. Misterek plans harvesting to begin in mid-to-late July or at the first sign of blooms on Lower Post.
