Resident urges better spacing of speed-limit signs and more lighting on bypass approaches

Steve Vane joined the meeting online and asked council members to inspect a stretch of roadway where he said speed-limit signs are clustered too closely and where approaches are dark after the bypass opened. "It's my community I'm trying to make safer," he said, urging the town to respace signs and consider lighting improvements to reduce speeding and improve visibility.

Town staff and DelDOT staff agreed to review sign placement and lighting, noting DelDOT approval is required for any installations on state roadways. The town said it would examine signage spacing and consider targeted changes rather than adding more signs indiscriminately.
