Residents urge modernization of Activity Center: kitchen, ADA access top priorities

Residents told the council that renovating the Activity Center should be a top use of CDBG or SSP funds because it serves seniors, after‑school programs and community events. Diane Hildebrant of 175 Skyline asked specifically for the kitchen to be returned to service and for doors and other elements to be made ADA‑compliant so people using mobility devices can enter and exit independently.

"Getting the kitchen back in the Activity Center, and also making the Activity Center ADA compliant," Hildebrant said during public comment. Town Manager Suzanne Harvey asked whether a single application could fund a broader modernization package (ADA doors, bathrooms, parking and kitchen). SEAGO’s William Osborne advised that planning and design can be funded through State Special Projects so a future CDBG construction application can be shovel‑ready. Councilmembers and residents noted the Activity Center could also generate modest rental revenue if upgraded, supporting ongoing programming.
