Commission authorizes Ohio EPA loan and awards water‑service replacement contract on West High Street

Finance director Katie Evanston explained that the West High Street water service replacement project (between Dayton Avenue and South Yellow Spring Street) will replace lead service lines and restore pavement and sidewalks, and that meeting the Ohio EPA/OWDA loan application deadline keeps the project on track for a September loan award. Evanston said the "total estimated project cost is $832,900," and that the financing package is favorable, with roughly 80–85% of the financing expected to be forgiven or carry no interest and the remainder at a standard rate.

The commission then awarded the construction contract to Majors Enterprises as the lowest and best bidder for an amount not to exceed $747,053. Staff noted the work is being coordinated with future paving schedules and that the project will be followed by standard construction and restoration processes.
