Board members used a July 29 special meeting to thank elections staff for their work preparing and running the July 21 primary and to note the results of an audit that county staff said confirmed the vote totals.
"You guys are amazing," the vice chair said in opening remarks, singling out Polly, Hannah, Dustin and McCoy and praising IT support. Hannah, the elections staff member presenting the canvass, said volunteers who performed the hand count were "enthusiastic" and that the audit showed "no discrepancies." Board members said the teamwork and long hours of staff were vital to completing the election and preparing for the November general election.
Staff and board members described the weeks and months of preparatory work that go into building and reviewing ballots, and Dustin emphasized that much of the workload occurs well before Election Day. The remarks framed the unanimous canvass vote as the conclusion of a larger, cooperative effort among county staff, volunteers and party representatives.
