Mayor outlines large housing and warehouse plans, projects 18,000 units and $6.5 billion in value

Mayor described a major build-out plan for south Grand Prairie, naming Lakesong and Goodland communities and a warehouse district that city leaders say will generate revenue to subsidize housing. He said the city, in partnership with Dallas County, is building Alice Court Community: 10 modern single-family attainable homes for working families as a local pilot.

The Mayor put forward a long-range projection for the combined projects: "Together, these communities will bring in approximately 18,000 new residential units with an estimated 6,500,000,000 in value and an anticipated 50,000 population growth over the next 20, 30 years," he said. He characterized the approach as creating "a city within a city" and said industrial/warehouse income will help support residential infrastructure.
