Jefferson to hold 2026 municipal election with June 2 primary

At its Aug. 4 meeting the Jefferson City Council voted to schedule the 2026 municipal election to coincide with the Primary Election on June 2, 2026. Council Member M. LaFleur made the motion to hold the municipal election with the primary; J. Casper seconded the motion and it carried. The minutes note the election calendar was not yet available and that the stated goal for the change is to improve voter turnout.

City staff will follow the county/state calendar and publish details once the election calendar is released; the minutes record that the final choice will be implemented in coordination with the official election schedule.
