Stamford commission reviews draft town-plan survey, outreach options

The Stamford Planning Commission reviewed a draft community survey and outreach plan from BCRC consultants designed to inform an update to the town plan. Presenter (BCRC) said the consultants drew questions from the town's 2011 survey and other recent municipal surveys and that the draft organizes topics into community topics, land use, housing, historic and natural resources, transportation, facilities, and resilience. "Our main purpose for being here today is to talk about the survey," the Presenter said.

Commissioners and residents focused on logistics and framing: whether to mail paper surveys, the feasibility of electronic distribution, and whether the draft's wording might tilt responses toward development or conservation. The Presenter noted the application budget did not specifically include a mailing line but did fund printing and refreshments. Commissioners asked for a budget breakdown for the roughly $20,000 grant line and discussed estimated mailing costs of about $0.78–$1.00 per household.
