Akron council bars joy-riding in fire trucks, okays bounce houses and park electrical work

Council members clarified that renting the village hall does not entitle the renter to use the fire hall or village fire trucks for private events. Trustee T. Tait said there should be "absolutely not to have a joy ride with children in our fire trucks," and the council emphasized that village bylaws prevent combining private parties with official fire-department equipment use.

Separately, fire personnel asked to host bounce houses at the firemen's ball tournament during Labor Day weekend; the council approved the donated bounce houses. Assistant Chief Scott Schember offered that his brother, Brian, would donate labor to rewire the park concession stand to prevent breaker trips; the council approved the electrical upgrade at no charge to the village on a motion by T. Nusz, seconded by J. Carr (5 Yays, 0 Nays).
