Akron Fire Department reports seven runs, training and pending equipment repairs; Firehouse grant unsuccessful

Fire Chief M. Hasso told the council the department responded to seven runs during the month and completed training on brush-truck and aerial operations. Crews replaced all six batteries on Engine 11 and reported that maintenance and small repairs continue across apparatus; Chief Hasso said two valves and a nozzle motor on the Quint need replacement and he will supply estimates to the council.

Chief Hasso also reported the department did not receive a Firehouse grant; more than 1,100 applicants competed and only 77 awards were made. The department is awaiting first-round results for an AFG grant application. No additional appropriations were approved at the meeting.
