Murken elected chair, Faisal vice-chair as Story County sets 2026 meeting rules

The Story County Board of Supervisors elected Supervisor Linda Murken as Chairperson for calendar year 2026 and Supervisor Latifah Faisal as Vice-Chairperson during its Jan. 2 meeting. The board also set regular meetings for Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. with flexibility to modify the schedule as needed and approved a limited-agenda policy that excludes public hearings and routine reports unless the chair makes an exception.

The motions were made and seconded by fellow supervisors and carried unanimously on roll call. The limited-agenda rule was described as applying to the 2026 calendar year and is intended to streamline proceedings; the board retained the chair’s discretion to place items on the agenda. The reorganization and schedule take effect immediately for calendar year 2026.
