Summary: Macon City Council meets Feb. 9, approves routine items and schedules spring events

The Macon City Council met on Feb. 9, 2026. Alderman Tom Long called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.; present were Mayor Frank Dunmire, Attorney Scott Garwood, Treasurer Kimberly Reynolds, Clerk Kim Miller and council members including Chad Rappe, Monte Holsapple, Caleb Beasley and Rocky Markham. The minutes of Jan. 12 were reviewed and approved.

During the brief meeting the council received a police report from Deputy Helfer, heard an update from City Attorney Scott Garwood on ordinance violations, noted an inquiry from resident Bryton Simms about using TIF funds for fire apparatus, and recorded an announcement that spring garage sales will be May 14–16 with a town clean-up on May 16. Motions to approve the treasurer's report and to pay the bills were made and recorded as carried; the council adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
