Avon board approves Jennifer Dizon Lynch as assistant director of special education

The Avon Community School Corp. Board of School Trustees voted unanimously to appoint Jennifer Dizon Lynch as assistant director of special education, effective Aug. 3, 2026. Dr. Windham presented the nomination during a special session and recommended Lynch after a search and committee interviews.

Dr. Windham said the district gathered staff feedback and convened a committee of about 30 Avon stakeholders, including parents, building and district administrators and special education staff, before selecting Lynch. “Jennifer's currently the special ed department chair at Avon High School, but brings with her also 13 years of special education administrative experience,” Dr. Windham said. The board recorded the motion to approve the appointment and the vote as 3–0.

Lynch’s background noted in the nomination included prior roles as a staff developer and school psychologist, a bachelor’s degree and an educational specialist degree from Eastern Kentucky, and director of exceptional learners coursework from Ball State. Trustees offered brief congratulations and praised Avon’s special education program and community support. The board recorded no dissent and did not request further materials; the personnel report that accompanied the meeting listed this appointment and other staffing items.
