Court signs attorney withdrawal in Donna Clapp v. Devon Haley after counsel reports client unreachable

Scott Harrison, identifying himself as counsel from Top Dog Law, told Clayton County State Court he had filed a motion to withdraw in Donna Clapp v. Devon Haley because he had been unable to locate the client despite mail, email and phone efforts. "We have sent it to her last known address. We've also tried emailing and calling her repeatedly," Harrison said on the record.

Judge Tammy Long Hayward said the court would sign the withdrawal as a precaution and explained that if the client later appears, they will be responsible to respond or secure new counsel. "The court will go ahead and sign the withdrawal," Hayward said, and excused counsel from the calendar; Harrison asked to be excused and was permitted to leave.

The withdrawal relieves Harrison's firm of representation for the plaintiff until another attorney files an appearance; the court noted the importance of giving clients notice of withdrawal and urged parties to monitor the docket for next steps.
