Gary Sanitary District: Alley trash pickup ends; curbside bins required beginning July 1

The Gary Sanitary District told residents that, beginning July 1, 2026, alley trash collection will end and “all trash bins must be moved to the front of your home and placed at the curb for collection.” The announcement instructed residents to place bins at the curb the night before pickup, keep containers at least 3 feet from vehicles and mailboxes, and remove bins from the curb by the end of the collection day.
