City approves 10 Love Your Block grants and hears neighborhood project presentations

Community groups and nonprofit representatives presented ten Love Your Block project proposals at the meeting, describing initiatives such as a revitalized community garden by the Salvation Army, gateway beautification by 1 City United in Prayer, a mural and landscaping project in Glen Park, and a neighborhood green-space conversion off the South Shore line. Presenters included Jim Pritchard (Salvation Army), Santina Johnson (1 City United in Prayer), Wesley Davis (Pyramid Block Club), members of the Miller Garden Club and other neighborhood coalition leaders.

After presentations and brief clarifications about planting types, mural approvals and coordination with engineering and public works, the board voted to approve all ten Love Your Block proposals by roll call (4 yes, 0 no). The board thanked presenters and encouraged further community engagement and coordination with city departments for permitting and project timelines.
