Paramount council adopts three resolutions to put partial parcel tax before voters Nov. 3

The Paramount City Council voted unanimously on July 28 to place a proposed special parcel tax measure on the November 3, 2026 ballot, adopting three linked resolutions that call a special municipal election, request consolidation with the Los Angeles County general election, and approve the ordinance ordering submittal of the measure.

Mayor Olmos introduced the motion and after a roll call the clerk recorded affirmative votes. The council also approved asking the city attorney to prepare an impartial analysis and authorized the mayor to author a statement in favor of the measure. Mayor Olmos said the intent was to let voters decide: “we're letting the residents decide on this measure,” and the council recorded votes in favor during the evening’s roll calls.

The resolutions adopted were identified in staff materials as No. 26032 (calling the special municipal election), No. 26033 (requesting the county to consolidate the city election with the statewide general election), and No. 26034 (approving the parcel tax ordinance and ordering submittal). Staff noted an approximately $130,000 county election fee to place a measure on the November ballot was already budgeted. The council’s action begins the administrative steps necessary to meet the county’s documentation deadline.
