Board hears proposal to rename Dalreda Elementary as Dalreda STEAM Magnet Academy

Board members received information about a proposed official name change for Dalreda Elementary School to "Dalreda STEAM Magnet Academy." The presenter said the recommendation reflects the school's transition to a full magnet program with a specialized focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics and aligns with district branding.

"The proposed name reflects the school's transition to a full magnet program with a specialized focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics," the presenter said. The board was shown the current and proposed logos and told the proposed logo had been approved under the Montgomery public school brand guidance included in the packet.

The presenter said the change was recommended to be effective for the 2627 school year. Board members did not raise substantive objections and the chair said she was excited for families to see the change when school opens. No formal vote on the name change was recorded during the session; the item was presented for information and recommendation.
