Family treatment court reports reunifications, launches 16-week 'Celebrating Families' program

Judge Waterman and Aubrey Maclier updated the CJCC on Family Treatment Court, reporting five active participants and noting that three are on the cusp of reunification with their children. Maclier, the newly introduced family treatment court coordinator, said referrals paused briefly during the coordinator transition but are resuming and that participants are engaged and hopeful.

Maclier described program mechanics including weekly wellness slips that participants can redeem for incentives and local partnerships to reduce barriers such as transportation, treatment and housing. She announced a 16-week "Celebrating Families" parenting program starting August 18 that will include age-appropriate groups for children and is funded through family treatment court and supported by volunteers. Reading a recent participant message, Maclier said a program member wrote that "Family treatment court has helped me tremendously in staying on the right path. It has motivated me to continue my recovery and remain sober even during difficult times." The council encouraged members to refer residents to the program and asked for information packets to be shared with interested stakeholders.
