County pilot dashboard shows pretrial case trends; staff say automation needed for ongoing tracking

Phil and CJCC staff presented a pilot pretrial dashboard that reviewed pretrial cases closed in the first six months of 2026, using 60 data points drawn from 60 cases assigned to the county's pretrial caseload. Presenters said the sample produced 47 jail bookings and several demographic and charge-level breakdowns, but emphasized the dataset only covered individuals assigned to pretrial supervision and does not represent the entire jail population.

Phil said the dashboard was compiled manually by an intern and that ongoing use would require an automated data feed and staff time. "So ideally for us is to drive decision making," Phil said, adding the dashboard could help the CJCC identify where to place interventions and funding. Members discussed interoperability barriers between court records (CCAP), jail records and law-enforcement systems and noted that access to CCAP data and system integration would be necessary to create a near-real-time public-facing dashboard. Phil and others said they would identify what data points to track and which department would be responsible if the council pursued this work.
