Assessment recommends data sharing, more lived experience and revived executive committee for CJCC

Phil presented a Justice Management Institute assessment of the CJCC, a roughly 30-page report with an executive summary that highlighted the council's strengths—cross-sector collaboration and delivery on initiatives—and areas for growth such as data sharing, membership diversity and governance structures. Phil said the report recommended adding people with lived experience to the CJCC, reimagining the executive committee and updating bylaws written about 13 years ago.

Phil urged the council to prioritize strategic planning as the next step. "The strategic planning really needs to come first before anything else," he said, and proposed forming a small work group and repurposing time from the dissolving treatment-court subcommittee to lead the planning. Members expressed support for piloting a task force or subcommittee to develop a draft strategic plan ahead of the September meeting.
