CJCC subcommittees report: criminal justice review, behavioral health meeting delay and domestic-violence docket planning

Judge Waterman said the criminal justice subcommittee will review justice support services this summer to identify efficiencies and ensure resources align with needs; he reported about 1,000 open criminal cases at the end of June and that justice support currently has one tester and three case managers. Waterman said the review will appear on the subcommittee's August agenda.

Shar Lopez reported the behavioral health subcommittee's meeting was postponed because of an agenda-publishing error and a lack of quorum; the group plans to meet on September 28. Anjali Patel gave a brief child-welfare update saying there were no significant updates and a rescheduled meeting would occur at noon in room 2100. Phil said judges and county staff are discussing ways to increase referrals to a domestic-violence docket and that a meeting to plan referrals is set for Wednesday, August 26. Members suggested scheduling a sheriff presentation on the jail expansion for a future meeting so CJCC can be informed and help answer public questions.
