Committee debates map scale and display options for public sessions

Committee members debated how to present maps during the charrette so attendees and remote viewers can understand the study area without narrowly focusing on the station alone.

Some design-team members want highly zoomed-in base maps and insets for sketching at each table; others cautioned that a blowup focusing only on the station could be misleading. The group discussed producing one poster-size 1:100-scale map for the wall, additional 11x17 copies, and possibly two inset maps (Lincoln Street/parking and the station/rail area) for table work.

"If we can get a vector file, that way you can zoom in," a committee member said, arguing a digital file would help Exeter TV or the town web team present a zoomable image. The chair said the committee did not want to focus only on the station and preferred the full-area context to be visible to the public.

The group agreed to ask Public Works and the school to delay any final print until the committee confirms whether to include the school parking area on the printed map and to request any necessary zoomed-in insets for the landscape architects.
