Street department seeks new plow trucks and a manhole cutter; purchase forwarded to budget

Dustin, presenting the Street Department's capital requests, asked the board to consider infilling about four to five street lights on North Center Avenue and replacing aging single-axle plow trucks. Dustin said the newer trucks would include wider plows and wings to improve intersection clearing but noted the price "is over $300,000 a piece and they are about a 2 year lead time."

He also proposed purchasing a manhole cutter to cut full-depth pavement around manholes and set the casting in 10–12 inches of concrete to avoid settling. Dustin said nearby municipalities have used the approach for years without settling and that Plover will bring their unit for a test on the Taylor Street project. The board moved and seconded forwarding the Street Department capital request to the budget committee.
