ZBA approves variance for 8×10 shed at 62 Chestnut Street

The Zoning Board of Adjustment granted a variance on July 28 to allow John Panos at 62 Chestnut Street to encroach 10 feet into the required 20‑foot front‑yard setback to install an 8×10 Reeds Ferry shed. Board members noted the property’s proximity to a fenced rail/bike trail, said small downtown lots commonly have similar structures and found the requested encroachment minor.

Panos told the board he wants a durable storage option in a tight downtown yard: "I'm just trying to build a shed," he said. Members said the proposal preserves the trail buffer’s intent while allowing reasonable use of a small lot; the motion to approve passed and the chair noted a 30‑day appeal period before the variance can be contested.
