Board adopts central counting location and proxy designations for absentee processing

The Tippecanoe County Election Board approved two routine resolutions to support absentee processing: one establishing the county building as the central counting location for absentee ballots and allowing staff to begin processing under statute (Resolution 20‑26‑7), and another designating proxies and keyholders so field vote centers may act as extensions of the elections office (Resolution 20‑26‑9).

Staff described both items as ministerial clarifications of existing practice: the central location permits staff to begin running ballots through machines at 6 a.m. on Election Day under statute, and the proxy resolution ensures staff in the field can sign and secure absentee ballots and that keys and custody are clearly assigned. "This is again just simply ministerial," staff explained. The board approved both resolutions without change.
