Committee schedules future reviews of Vasquez start times, social-emotional learning and graduation requirements

The subcommittee agreed to add several items to upcoming agendas after brief member requests and staff responses.

A committee member said she would prepare a presentation on Vasquez school start times and social-emotional learning and staff recommended running a public survey and sharing findings before any policy recommendation. The presenter suggested the committee hear the presentation first and then consider public outreach to create informed input.

Members also raised inconsistencies between posted course lists and board-approved graduation requirements. Staff said the board policy on graduation requirements had been updated previously but some items did not appear on the website; counselors and staff will be asked to review A–G and CTE credit alignment, and the subcommittee agreed to coordinate with policy management so any recommended changes can move to first read on the board agenda.

The subcommittee did not adopt policy changes at this meeting; members asked staff to invite counselors and to return with clarified proposals and data.
