Board approves annual policy updates, adopts new signature convention

The Washington State Board of Accountancy completed its annual policy review on April 24, 2026, approving minor wording changes and one substantive revision designed to clarify complaint intake procedures. The Board agreed that, starting in 2026, policies will be updated annually for the Chair's date and signature even when the policy text is unchanged.

Specifically, the Board voted unanimously to update Policy 2003-1 (Safe Harbor Report Language) with minor wording changes; to update Policy 2004-1 (Administrative Violations Delegation and Process for Remedial Resolution) with additional wording in the "Purpose" section; to update Policy 2015-1 (Board Member Travel and Attendance) with minor wording changes; and to rewrite the "Complaint Intake" section of Policy 2017-1 (Investigative and Disciplinary Processes) with a minor additional change to proposed language (the phrase was changed to: "Dismissed complaints are closed unless material new evidence is submitted by the complainant"). Policies 2017-2 (Publication and Disclosure of Disciplinary Actions) and 2020-1 (Peer Review) were retained without revisions.

The Board also authorized the use of electronic signatures for signing Board minutes and the Chair authorized the use of his electronic signature for Board policies. These actions were recorded as unanimous.

The minutes reflect the Board's intent to maintain clearer administrative records and to ensure policy dates and signatures are standardized going forward.
