Cayuga County Legislature adopts amended Rules of Order (Resolution No. 01-26)

The Cayuga County Legislature voted to adopt the amended Rules of Order as Resolution No. 01-26 during its Jan. 2, 2026 reorganization meeting. The motion to adopt the Rules was made by Shea and seconded by Strong and was recorded as carried during the meeting; the document is dated as revised Dec. 30, 2025 and adopted Jan. 2, 2026.

Key provisions in the adopted Rules include: a single regular legislative meeting each month (the fourth Tuesday at 6:00 P.M., with a special October Student Government Day exception); required electronic posting of the agenda at least five days before regular meetings; quorum and notice definitions (written notice via email and U.S. Postal Service); and procedures for special and emergency meetings, including a 48-hour notice standard and an emergency waiver when unanimous consent is given.
