Speakers ask for finished path and sidewalks to keep children off steep roads

Julian Barclay urged the council to finish the path that connects Upper and Lower Huachuca City so residents—particularly children—can reach the library and Activity Center without walking the steep road. He said the existing route is partly paved but needs completion to serve as a safe, all‑season connection.

Other speakers pressed for a sidewalk from the school to the Activity Center parking lot and for traffic calming such as speed signage or speed tables in neighborhoods with speeding vehicles. Councilmembers said such projects should be considered for inclusion on the town’s candidate list for CDBG or other funding and that specificity (exact location, cost estimate) will strengthen any application.
