La Jolla reports strong CCMR gains: district meets targets on associate degrees, IBC completion and freshmen on track

Deputy Superintendent Derek Little told trustees the district "met the target" across Goal 4 CCMR measures and reported a five‑point district improvement, saying 95.6% of this year's graduating class met the CCMR standard. He highlighted that more students earned associate degrees than ever before ("over 14% of graduates"), industry‑based certification completion surpassed goals, and Freshmen on Track exceeded expectations.

Little credited targeted investments in high‑school staffing and coaching for the gains: "We created freshman on track coaches, CCMR coaches... we've been pouring a lot of resources and investments into our high school to be able to contribute to outcomes just like this." He said some targets will be reset at a future workshop and previewed expansion plans for CTE and P‑TECH programming.

Board members applauded the reports and asked clarifying questions about middle‑school on‑ramps and acceleration opportunities; Little said students can begin some CCR activities as early as 8th grade, including TSI exam opportunities and AP pathway acceleration.

What happens next: district staff said they will return with proposed new targets at an upcoming workshop and continue expanding career and technical education pathways and P‑TECH programming.
