Council approves temporary move of a voter convenience center to nearby library during senior‑center renovations

The county clerk asked the council to approve a temporary relocation of the voter convenience center that serves several precincts because the Betty Ehart Senior Center will be under renovation this fall. "The space that we intend to use is the upstairs meeting rooms in the Mesa Public Library. This space is ADA accessible, and it is sufficient to our needs," the clerk said.

Staff said the library location is next door to the senior center and will minimize disruption for many voters who walk or are driven to the site; voting machines must be moved into the space three days before the election. Council adopted the resolution authorizing the move for the Nov. 3, 2026 general election, subject to district‑court approval; the motion passed unanimously.

Staff emphasized outreach and signage so regular voters who use the senior center will know of the temporary change, and the clerk said the county will take possession of the library meeting rooms on the Friday prior to the election to set up equipment and return the space the day after the election.
