Board approves part‑time auditor clerk hire after debate over job description and pay scale

One supervisor said the board historically reviews job descriptions and budget impacts before approving hires: "I have no problem with the employee personally... but I'd like to follow the existing precedent where we create the job description, we go over it with the board, and then we approve." The auditor responded that the job description had been prepared and routed through counsel but had not been attached to tonight's packet; the board asked that the description be circulated to members.

After motions and voice votes the board approved the appointment. Supervisors also discussed that the union scale rate budgeted for fiscal year 2026 is $21.32 per hour for the comparable classification; the board noted the financials are in the fiscal plan.
