Bridgette Brennan sworn in as Larchmont mayor; board honors outgoing Mayor Sarah Bauer

Bridgette Teresa Brennan was sworn in as mayor of the Village of Larchmont on July 27, reciting the oath of office before the board and assembled residents.

"I, Bridgette Teresa Brennan, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of New York and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of mayor of the Village of Larchmont, New York," Brennan declared during the ceremony. Representative George Latimer attended and offered congratulatory remarks before departing for other engagements.

Brennan used her brief remarks to thank community members, trustees, village staff and her family for their support during the campaign and transition. She described public service as "very personal," citing her parents' immigrant experience and community support as motivation for serving.

Trustees then presented a proclamation recognizing Sarah Bauer, who served two terms and eight years as mayor, for leadership on zoning updates, park renovations and a local ban on gas-powered leaf blowers. "The village of Larchmont recognizes and celebrates Sarah Bauer for her service, leadership, and lasting contribution to the village," the proclamation reads. Bauer, who accepted a small set of gifts and the formal proclamation, thanked colleagues and staff and said she was leaving the village "in phenomenal hands."
